Facebook on Thursday announced that the company will be releasing three new and updated apps into the Windows’ ecosystem. These apps include official fully developed Instagram app for Windows Mobile 10 users and a new dedicated Facebook and Messenger app for Windows 10 desktop. The Instagram app for Windows Mobile users will have all features found in the Instagram app for iOS and Android – features likeย Instagram Direct, Explore and video. The app will also support Live Tiles, which shows you notifications right in your home screen.
The company’s new dedicated app for Windows 10 desktop was built from the ground. The company says that the new app “starts and loads your News Feed much faster than previous Facebook desktop applications.” The new app hasย desktop notifications, and lets youย pin a new Facebook Live Tile which shows you the latest updates from your friends, family and Pages you follow. The app also has the ability to share photos to Facebook straight from the File Explorer. Facebook also added new features already on their mobile app such asย Reactions, stickers in comments, birthday and event reminders, trending topics and others. The new app also has a built-in web browser so users can read and share articles without leaving the app.
Windows 10 desktop’s new Messenger will also receiveย a big update from Facebook. The new Messenger app have manyย new featuresย likeย stickers, group conversations and GIFs, and native desktop notifications.
Microsoft says that the new updated apps should be available later today in the Windows Desktop App Store, and Instagram in the Windows Mobile Store. The company also confirmed that theyย will release their officialย Windows 10 Phone Facebook and Messenger apps later this year.
