AT&T CEO’s regrets offering unlimited data and iMessage taking away his money

    -

Despite all the money in his pocket, AT&T’s greedy CEOย Randall Stephenson voiced his regret for offering unlimited data to their customers. During a conference this week,ย Stephenson said thatย he wished the company should have never offered unlimited data plans. He hates for unlimited data is due to not being able to get more money out of those customers who had unlimited data, making itย impossibleย for them to charge those users and allowing them to eat as much data as they want.

My only regret was how we introduced pricing in the beginning, because how did we introduce pricing? Thirty dollars and you get all you can eat,โ€ he said in the on-stage interview at the Milken Instituteโ€™s Global Conference on Wednesday. โ€œAnd itโ€™s a variable cost model. Every additional megabyte you use in this network, I have to invest capital.

Stephenson not only hate those customers who made use of the ability to add unlimited data to their plan, but he also not so happy with Apple’s iMessage — stating that Apple isย destroyingย their text messages revenue with the iMessage service.

You lie awake at night worrying about what is that which will disrupt your business model,โ€ he said. โ€œApple iMessage is a classic example. If youโ€™re using iMessage, youโ€™re not using one of our messaging services, right? Thatโ€™s disruptive to our messaging revenue stream.

So there it is. AT&T regrets all decisions it makes that prevent them from charging you the most they can.
